Bow ties and Bows

And We're Back....

Since Kamdon made his grand entrance, this blog has been poorly neglected. I had all of these projects ready to share with the blogging world and they were pushed to the way side. So if anyone still checks on this, forgive the absence and the old holiday decor. Stay tuned for Kamdon's story, updates, and more DIY's!

First up- the Easter Carrot Garland. This garland was super cute and really easy to make. It came from Modern Parents Messy Kids.

Here's a list of simple step-by-step instructions with pictures to follow.

1. Take orange colored paper and cute desired number of carrots 2.5" wide and 11" long. Fold in half.

2. Repeat with corresponding green colored paper 1.5" wide 11" long.

3. Cut three strips for every one carrot.

4. Cut each strip in half.

5. Line the three strips up.

6. Fan out and crease bottom

7.  Fold orange strips 1/2" down and crease.

8. Fold creases inward.

9. Insert green strips in between folded creases. I raised the middle green strip slightly above the others.

10. Turn and staple everything together.

11. Repeat with each carrot.

12. String through each carrot to create a garland.

13. Line up, hang, and enjoy!

Everything But the Kitchen Sink

Since I got scolded by Melisue about never blogging, here is a new post about everything but the kitchen sink.

We don't really do too much around here right now. Husband works at Auto Zone and goes to The U. I work part time at Pier 1 Imports and am a design assistant at K. Rocke Design. Basically that is all. We go out occasionally, see family, some friends. We're kind of lame at the moment.

I've been addicted to some TV shows lately....I admit to all know that I waste so much time sitting on my butt and watching my life away on the screen. I love it though. Here's a few of my favorites:

Yeah, that's my life. It's pretty grand.
I love craftiness as well....Husband hates it. So put TV shows and crafts together and we make use of time....sort of.

The Early Years

Yes, I started a blog....Melissue convinced me it's the thing to do once you get married. Apparently I'm super behind. I figured it would be a nice way to journal-perhaps I'll get more motivation to write down our life, my thoughts, and whatever else can fill this space. Also, it's only 10 on a Friday night and Husband is passed out on the couch.

I've been thinking what to write and I realized I've never written our "history" if you will. How we met, why we fell for each other, and got married. Good start right?

*WARNING*
My sappy side can and may slip out over this post.
And there's quite a few pictures.
Don't let it sway your opinion of me.
This is for posterity.
That is all.

It all started this night:

[Don't be hating on my stupid face]

One of my roommates at the time was going on dates with Parker, a friend of Kasey's that he met at the Institute Fraternity. We all got invited to a bonfire in the canyon and Parker invited Kasey and his sister Ashley to come along.
My roommates and I were laughing and joking about who would Dibs Parker's friend. As soon as they came into the apartment, I scanned him over and whispered "Dibs!" to my roommates. It was on.
We all piled into Parker's car to head up to the canyon and Roommate pushed past me to sit next to Kasey. I shrugged it off and slid over to the next seat. We get up to the canyon and find out we have to cross a pipe to get over the river. No big. Roommate freaks out and plays the Oh-I-can't-do-this-on-my-own-will-you-hold-my-hand-while-I-cross card. Kasey obliged and attempted to help her across. I rolled my eyes as she "fell" for the third time and scooted past to the other side.
The night goes on in about the same fashion and by this time I was over the Dibs game. I would not act helpless to compete for some guy. But I found myself trying to get into conversation with Kasey and trying to catch his eye all night.
It came time for the ride home and I took my chance-I slid past Roommate and sat next to Kasey. We took a pit stop to Wal*Mart and I again took a chance-I grabbed Kasey's hand and pulled him away from the group.  I wanted didn't want the night to end just yet so the roommates and I invited Parker, Kasey, and Ashley to stay and watch a movie.
Yet again Roommate and I played the game of "Who gets to sit by Kasey". Needless to say, I won. We watched Hitch and I laughed at Kasey's jokes and attempts to quote the movie. About halfway in he leans over and says, "Hey could you sit forward for a second?" I lean forward. "Thanks, you can lean back now." I lean back to his arm behind me. "Smooth move," I laugh. And he silently got a victory point. We laughed and talked and I instantly fell head over heals. I don't even know what it was-maybe the way he looked in his beanie or how he made me laugh. Or maybe it was the thrill of competition between roommates. Whatever it was, I wanted to keep seeing him so I invited him to the YSA Barnyard Dance.

[Suzanne, Me, and Kasey]

After that we went on weekly dates-The Haunted Forest, Bowling, Lunch, etc. Finally it came to the DTR talk. Eek. I did not want to date exclusively. I wanted to meet more people, move out of Utah, and stay single for a missionary friend. After many talks, prayers, and some tears I called Kasey up one night and told him I didn't want to see anyone else. Too bad for me he had already lined up not one but TWO dates for that weekend. Gee thanks. Haha. I told him to go as long as I got him on Halloween.

[I surprised Kasey and bought a Ute shirt. He broke into my apartment through the window while I was in the living room and surprised me with roses. He wins]

Along rolled Christmas time and we went on a double date with some friends to Temple Square for the lights. We got there early and Kasey mustered up his courage to tell me about his day. He had gone to the temple with a friend and kept getting the thought that things should be more serious between us. He flipped open the scriptures to read before the session and came to this verse:

"And they were married, and given in marriage, and were blessed according to the multitude of the promises which the Lord had made unto them."

He read the first two words, freaked out, and shut the scriptures. I read it and laughed in his face. I saw the look in his eyes and knew he was serious. All I could say was, "Um....are you sure?" Poor guy. He finally just told me to think about it and pray for an answer for myself. I stubbornly refused to do such thing for several days. I didn't want the answer. I had plans! Then God laughed in MY face and put me in my place. I never got a definite "Yes" confirmation, but I got a positive feeling that Kasey could be the one to dry my tears, throw out my excess luggage, love me endlessly, and be the one to take me to the temple to be sealed forever.
And that's just what we did.
